Navigating the loss of a mother is a complex and difficult process. Know that your feelings as you grieve are valid.


Grief is intricate and exhausting, impacting our physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. We often find ourselves grasping for relief as we face intense pain and sadness that accompanies the loss of one of the most significant relationships in our lives.


As you acknowledge and experience the loss of your mother, keep these three strategies in mind.



Give Yourself Grace on Rough Days


No matter how much time has passed since the loss of your mother, rough days will happen.


It’s okay.


Offer yourself grace on your bad days.


Honor Your Mother’s Memory

Share stories of your mother with friends and family.


Remember your mother for who she was in her many roles, capacities, and stages of life.


Commit to new traditions that honor her and keep her memory alive.

Embrace Moments of Peace


Maintain a balanced, healthy a self-care routine.


Embrace the moments of peace and comfort you find in familiar places, songs, or images.
